| The e-learning professor is a former corporate controller. After becoming sufficiently bored with that, Curt Bonk received his master's and Ph.D. degrees in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin. Curt Bonk is now Professor of Instructional Systems Technology and adjunct in the School of Informatics at Indiana University. In 2007, Dr. Curtis Bonk was named a Visiting Professor at the University of Glamorgan in Wales. The e-learning professor was recently a Senior Research Fellow with the Advanced Distributed Learning Lab within the Department of Defense and before that at the Army Research Institute. Dr Curtis Bonk has received numerous teaching and mentoring awards from IU and has also been awarded the CyberStar Award from the Indiana Information Technology Association, the Most Outstanding Achievement Award from the U.S. Distance Learning Association, and the Most Innovative Teaching in a Distance Education Program Award from the State of Indiana. Professor Bonk has given over 807 talks around the world related to online teaching and e-learning, including presentations at universities in Spain, Iceland. China, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, Finland, Ireland, Singapore, the UK, and the Saudi Arabia. In addition, the e-learning professor has over 206 publications on topics which include online learning pedagogy, Wikibooks, blogging, massive multiplayer online gaming, open source software, collaborative technologies, and synchronous and asynchronous computer conferencing. Dr. Bonk is author of the Handbook of Blended Learning: Global Perspectives, Local Designs (2006) and also Empowering Online Learning: 100+ Activities for Reading, Reflecting, Displaying, and Doing (2008). Professor Bonk is now completing a book, "The World is Open: Now, WE-ALL-LEARN with Web Technology", to extend "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman. |
